Day 284 Mandurah

Greetings from Mandurah!

After a long trip, which included getting stuck in traffic, stopping not once, but twice on the side of the highway for kiddies that needed a toilet stop and then a nappy change.. we finally arrived.

Wow what a day.  My parents surprised us with a boat cruise along the canals! What a treat! It was a gorgeous day for a cruise, enjoying the breeze and the sunshine, taking in all the views...

Dad took these 2 pics, I'll have to re post when I can get the pictures at normal size as I think they are gorgeous captures of Mum and Jacob....

I gave Sam a packet of chips, and said he needed to share them with everyone. Everyone meaning Jacob, Mum and Dad who he was standing next to. Next thing I know, Sam disappears and I find him asking all the passengers on the boat if they want some chips! Oh my boy... love.

Ah, yes please. I would like to live here. Anyone got a spare few million to lend?

After the cruise, we had lunch at a restaurant on the foreshore. A typical 'holiday' treat of prawn salad, and fish and chips.

While Jacob conked out for a mega long nap, Nanna and Sam got busy cooking... or 'cheffing' as Sam says.

Apple Crumble was on the menu, and Sam did a great job!

Taste test time.

Easy does it, scooping the mixture into the dish.

Even Junior Masterchef's have to do the dishes. (He washed EVERY DISH and not only that he did a great job!)

Uh-oh.. this was not a part of the plan.

Last step, put the crumble on top.

Into the oven, all done! We enjoyed some apple crumble for dessert and it was delish! Thanks Sam!

Great day overall! I've got a belly full of delicious dinner, apple crumble and wine... more than satisfied :)

I'm off to bed for an early night... sweet dreams! x

Day 282 Monday madness

As luck would have it (or wouldn't have it), I unfortunately came down with a bout of gastro yesterday.... and spent the night sleeping on the bathroom floor. Fun!

Instead of bringing me down though, it has only cemented my already strong resolve that it is extremely important to be healthy inside and out, so that when sickness comes, I'm in a better place to handle it. And also so I don't get that run down again that sickness follows me around like a lost puppy.

My very kind mother in law had Sam at her house for most of the day, so I could get some rest ... which turned out to be a major blessing as I continued to spend most of the morning in the bathroom again. I think this bug is passing as I'm slowly starting to regain strength ... as you can tell because I'm at the computer blogging and doing work! If I do it now, tonight can be dedicated to an early night and complete rest.

Don't ask me why I did it, but when I picked up Sam ... I thought it would be fun to stop quickly on the side of the road so the boys could look at the cows and the scenery.. they loved it but all I could think about was how I would really love to not throw up in the vineyards and it was probably best to get home! A very short and sweet 'hello' to the cows, some photos and straight back home for us.

Day 280 continued...

Well... today was lovely! Who would have thought considering the start to our morning?!

Boys were healthy and happy.... the sun was shining..... things seemed to revert back to normal. Phew

My little koala bear let go of his grip after having a good long nap and was content to follow Sam around to play....

And guess what? I came across a cool iPhone app called Instagram and I've been having a huge amount of fun playing with it! Wanna see??....

The innocent victims in Jacob's cot that were unfortunately plastered with throw up...

Yoghurt time...

BBQ time....

Day 280 Downhill

It's a really good thing yesterday was so wonderful, because as life always goes, you've got to take the good with the bad. And this morning... things turned bad.

Speaking of yesterdays post, I re-read it this morning and it sure was gushy right?! I'm wondering how many of you read it and went "blah, sappy!". Well, don't worry, this post will have quite a different tune!

Our morning began at 4.30am. With Sam coughing so much he woke himself up, and my poor Jacob crying because he had thrown up all over his cot and all over himself, hair included, so much so that his hair was standing straight up.

So by 5am after calming Jacob down and having some cuddles, we both ended up in the shower because the stench of throw up was just too much to handle... while Lewy and Sam watched cartoons on the iPad in bed.

Jacob has turned back into my little koala bear, which I can't say I mind... he is the cutest koala bear I've ever seen. Sam thankfully hasn't coughed once since he got up and seems fine, so let's cross fingers it stays that way.

On a brighter note, let me tell you about Sam's adventures this morning.  It provided me with quite a bit of entertainment in an otherwise shock start to the morning!

So Sam starts being really really naughty and I decided to take the 'nice, patient mum' approach and sat next to him on the couch to ask him why he was being naughty. Get this... the logic of a 3 year old.... he said "Because I want to go outside and ride my bike". Me: "Why didn't you just ask me if you could ride your bike?". Sam: "Okay, can I please ride my bike?" then "thanks, love you Mummy". Ha! Sometimes it would really help to be able to read their little minds!

He goes outside and then races back in a few minutes later to show me his new snail friend 'Caspin'. Sam made me cut some of my toast off so the snail could eat it, then took him for a ride on his bike.  A little while later I hear Sam making kissing noises and saying "I love you snail".  Then he says "Mummy, can we take snail to the shops to get a new shell?". Sam says he needs to make a bed for his little friend, so gets some toilet paper for the sheet and some leaves for the bed.

Then things start to get a little ..... concerning.

I find Sam setting up the bed and putting the snail in it, in the photocopier and shutting the lid. Oh dear. I explain to Sam that the snail much prefers to be outside and maybe he could make him the bed in the grass. Sam agrees, takes him out of the photocopier and brings him to me so I can say hello... ummmm.... I'm not sure whether to tell Sam that his little friend is no longer with us and has gone to a better place, or just let him carry on. I decide to let him carry on (is that bad?!) ... so basically Sam is still holding his little friend, telling me he is being really gentle and that he loves his snail. I mention quietly that snail looks a bit unhappy and might be better outside where he belongs.... instead of doing that Sam puts snail on my breakfast plate (thankfully I have already eaten my toast)... so as I'm writing this I have a dead snail right next to the laptop. Nice..... thanks Sam :)

Oh and he also asked if snail could go and sleep with Jacob. Ha! I had to put my foot down on that one :)

*******

My little koala bear is tucked back up in bed, fast asleep... it's 8.30am and I've already been up for 4 hours... it's going to be a long day!

So what better way to improve the morning, than with a giveaway.... woohoo!

This little bow is so cute and it looks gorgeous on...so if you want to have the chance to win this lovely piece, leave a comment and I'll announce the lucky winner on Monday!

Have a wonderful day all!! xx
