Day 215

Guess who found the blue chalk for the pool cues?!

Our dryer is working overtime thanks to the rainy day... I'll worry about the electricity bill when we get back :) That's all for today.. I've got packing, organising and cleaning to do and a holiday to think about!

Day 214

Why hello there little guy! Nice to see you hanging around the garden this morning :)

Our garden from his point of view :) :)

So the garden looks great... I enjoyed (yes! enjoyed!) spending time this morning weeding, planting another shrub, generally pottering around and making sure the plants were happy, alive and neat and tidy :)

That's about all for today... I've got 'holiday' on the brain and can't think straight!

Night all! xxxx

Day 213

I've been in a funny little mood these last few days....don't worry.... I'm doing well... just "out of sorts". Just feeling like I need re-fuelling. again. I guess that's the thing though isn't it... when you are a mother (or even if you're not!).. one re-fuelling isn't going to cut it. We need to make sure we make regular stops at the fuel station.

So it's a good thing I will be going to Bali for a fuel stop in a few days....

I did however, need some extra lift today .... so while Sam is at daycare, and I've been having some quality time with Jacob... and praying my little heart out... I decided to take a trip to Word Bookstore (you know.. the Christian Bookstore in Morley?). I'm so glad I did.

There was a gorgeous lady on staff.. who came over to see if I needed help (help? I need LOTS of it!). From what started as me asking for recommendations for a good book... ended up in me blurting out how I'm feeling, what I'm struggling with and that I need some quick God re-fuelling. There also may.. or may not.. have been some tears. :)

Nicolette was her name... and she was my angel today. Thankfully the book store was quiet, so we ended up chatting for quite some time and I felt so uplifted by the end of it. She even blessed me by giving me a beautiful CD, that she could not have known, was filled with my all time favourite tunes. Would you believe, she doesn't usually work at the Morley store, she works at another one but was only there for a few hours to fill in for someone else.. talk about being in the right place at the right time.

I bought this book while I was there.... it's full of "Beauty Tips for the Soul".... just what I need :)

So .... I'm feeling much much better this afternoon.... my heart is full again and my soul is singing..... !

Now to look forward to a special evening out with the lovely Val!

Happy Tuesday all! xx

Isaiah 41:10.... my favourite verse...

Day 212

5 more sleeps!!!!

I told Sam that we had 5 sleeps till Bali. He said "will there be beds there.. can I bring my own bed?". He wakes up every morning now and puts on his bathers, shorts, t-shirt and thongs and says he is ready to go.... oh my sweet boy... Not long now!

-----------

Quinoa-Spinach Bake

What you need:

1 bunch English Spinach, stems cut off and leaves washed
1 onion, diced
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1 tablespoon thyme leaves (can use dried herbs if you don't have fresh)
1 teaspoon rosemary leaves
1 cup low fat cottage cheese
1 cup fetta
1/4 teaspoon ground pepper
2 eggs
2 cups of cooked Quinoa (about 1 cup of uncooked quinoa), made according to package instructions.

How to do it!

1. Pre-heat oven to 180, grease a casserole dish and coat with breadcrumbs.

2. Add spinach to boiling water, and leave in for about 10 seconds.... Remove and run under cold water. When cooled, squeeze out water and finely chop. Set aside.

3. Heat olive oil in frypan, and cook onion, garlic and herbs until onion is soft. Remove and transfer to big bowl.

4. Add eggs, cottage cheese, fetta, pepper & quinoa to onion mix.. stir well until combined.

5. Pour mixture into prepared casserole dish and then into the oven and bake until set, and edges are brown.... takes around 60 minutes.

I served this bake with steamed vegies... so to add some zing to the meal, we put a bit of this Eggplant Pickle on the side... this stuff - YUM! It's got bite, but certainly makes any dish that bit more exciting!

Happy Monday! xxx

Day 211

We managed to fit in so much today.

1. A drive around bright and early to take some photos..

2. A special outing just Sam and I to Whiteman Park...

3. A trip into Perth with all of us... a big long walk around in search of camera shops and a lunch stop

4. Off to City Beach afterwards for a stroll around and to take some pictures

5. Finally... home time...

A good day.... which was followed by a much needed afternoon nap for Jacob and for me :)

6 SLEEPS till Bali!

Although I've had a nap... I'm still dreaming of bedtime :) It's been a busy weekend....

Happy days! xxxx

Day 210

So after the boys went to bed early last night, I had a glass (or three) of wine, watched some TV, and went to bed early.. we all woke up feeling refreshed and back to normal... phew! We headed out bright and early to Bunnings to check out some plants and pots for the front garden. No purchases, but left with some ideas in mind.

After Jacob had his morning nap, we headed to the airport to farewell my parents who were leaving for Bali. That means that in only 7 sleeps we will be joining them... counting down the minutes!

After the airport, we headed to a park near our house for a walk around and play... then onto another nursery to check out some more plants... bought one.... another Geraldton Wax as there was an open space in the garden bed and it was annoying me :)

On the way to the nursery, I was heading to a winery first to take some photos, but changed my mind and turned down a road so I could head back to the nursery... we ended up coming across a fantastic quiet private park, with so much beautiful open space, trees around, a great playground and gorgeous flowers.... what a find! So we stopped and spent some time exploring :) We will definitely be going back again.

Photos taken at the park we found -

So we finally got home after our big day out...and my boys were so tired they fell straight asleep :)

My husband.... he is so wonderful.... so so so wonderful!  You know what I love? Not the fact that he is thoughtful to buy me special things (although this is great!).. but more so about the fact that he takes such an interest in my hobby. He doesn't just support me in my passion for photography, but he spends time learning more about my camera and talking with the staff at the camera shop, and his work colleague who is into photography and getting advice on new equipment that might help me.

Out of the blue today, he came home with some new filters for my lens. Some filters that will make a massive difference to the type of photos I enjoy taking. I was so surprised and it was completely unexpected. I felt so loved when he went on to tell me that he spent ages talking with his work colleague today, finding out about filters and then went to the camera store after work to buy some. The staff at the camera store recognise Lewy now when he goes in :) That means so much to me, that he knew it would make me happy and took such an interest... that's Lewy all over.

It's funny because Lewy knows so much more about the technical side of my camera, whereas I know about adjusting the settings to get the right effect. It got me thinking about us as a couple. That little example basically sums up how we work. Just like the camera, when it comes to computers - Lewy can build one and knows all the technical elements and about what software is needed etc.. whereas I know how to use one and use it well. I organise things, Lewy thinks outside the box.....

Our differences are what makes us a perfect match. Lewy is logic .. I am heart. So when I am stressing out, worried, anxious and over analysing.... Lewy comes along with his logic and sorts me out.  He is positive, happy and easy going... and I need those wonderful things in my life. On the other side.. my heart thinks big.. and wants to travel, to experience new things and take on new projects, so I often come up with new and exciting things for Lewy and I do, which he probably wouldn't do normally... we mesh well together:) He's my best friend .... so it's a good thing we got married!

Happy days xxxxx
